Meningitis

Meningitis

Meningitis is an acute inflammation of the meninges (protecting membranes covering the brain and neural structure) caused by Infection with viruses, bacteria, or alternative microorganisms. Infectious disease is a medical emergency and critical because of the inflammation’s proximity to the brain and Spinal cord.

Types of Meningitis

a) Microorganism Meningitis – It can be critical and spreads between people in close contact with one another.

b) Viral Meningitis – It tends to be less severe, caused by several types of viruses, but the most common are enteroviruses (which cause stomach Colds (Flu) and multiply in the intestinal tract).

Other viruses that cause meningitis include:
Enteroviruses – Its spread through houseflies, wastewater, and sewage
Arboviruses – Its carried by arthropods, such as ticks or mosquitoes
Mumps virus – Its seen in children ages 5-9 who have not had the MMR vaccine
Herpes viruses
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) – Meningitis may be the First sign a person is infected with HIV.

c) Fungal Meningitis – Its a rare variety which always solely happens in people that have a weakened system (the body’s defence against germs).

d) Bacterial Meningitis – Its the most common variety of the infectious disease caused by bacterial microorganism (close to 1/8 of all cases area) in which Infection will cause the tissues round the brain to swell, successively interfering with blood flow possibly ending in dysfunction (or maybe Stroke) or may cause death or permanent incapacity.

Bacterial infectious disease will be caused by a variety of microorganism including:
Haemophilus influenzae blood type (Hib) – The most common cause in Infants and children under 6 years old before 1986, but the vaccine (HiB) has mostly eradicated it in countries where it is given to Infants.
Neisseria meningitides – Its a highly contagious (the only type that occurs in outbreaks) causing meningococcal meningitis (a common form of meningitis in children and young adults).
Streptococcus pneumoniae – The most common cause of bacterial meningitis in children that may occur along with an ear or Sinus Infection or pneumonia.
Listeria monocytogenes – A common form of bacteria that does not tend to infect most people, but the very young, the very old, and pregnant women can be at risk.
Group B eubacteria
Streptococcus aureus – It may be seen following a head injury or brain surgery.

People at Risk of Meningitis

• Children underneath 5 years.
• Teenagers and young adults ages 16-25.
• Adults over 55 years.
• People with medical conditions such as a broken or missing spleen.
• People with significant head injury, skull Trauma, or cerebroSpinal rhinorrhea (flow of cerebroSpinal fluid from the nose after a head injury).
• People with suppressed Immune System (for pneumococcal meningitis).
• People who never received the HiB vaccine.
• People who have recently undergone a neurosurgical procedure.

Symptoms of Meningitis (Children)

Symptoms might develop over many hours or over a number of days.
• Mimic influenza(influenza) symptoms
• Irritability
• High-pitched cry
• Poor feeding
Vomiting
Fever
• Seizures
• Bulging fontanelle (soft spot in the skull)
• Stiff neck (less common)

Symptoms of Meningitis (above 2 years)

• Sudden high Fever
• Stiff neck
• Severe Headaches (that looks completely different than normal with Nausea or puking)
• Confusion or issue concentrating
• Seizures
• Sleepiness or issue waking
• Sensitivity to light
• No appetency or thirst
Skin rash (sometimes, like in meningococcal meningitis).

Food Remedies for Meningitis & Micro-Organism Infectious Diseases

BergamotBergamot oil shows excellent ability to fight against a lot of diseases (such as meningitis, endocarditis, bacteremia, and Urinary Tract System Infections), gives positive effects in fighting against Enterococcus species (Enterococcus faecium and enterococcus faecalis bacteria, found to be resistant to other Anti-Biotics such as vancomycin).

Chlorella – These acellular water protoctist high chlorophyl content may bring benefit as its chlorophyll structure (that’s like haemoprotein) improve cell production, resulting in a rise in natural action, purification of the blood and quicker recovery and repair of the harm caused by infectious disease.

Coconut OilCoconut contain capric acid (a medium-chain triglyceride) which is formed into monocaprin in the Human Body kills neisseria (meningitis, gonorrhea, pelvic inflammatory disease), where 6-7% of Coconut fats (MCTs) is Capric acid and capric acid is formed into monocaprin in the Human Body, which has also been shown to have anti-viral effects.

EchinaceaEchinacea is a primary remedy for Infection and effective against bacterial and viral attacks. Its also effective in reducing the problems caused due to the symptoms of bacterial Infections by reducing the production cytokines that act as inflammatory markers during an event of Infection.

Garlic – Its allicin content has shown to be effective against multiple diseases (including meningitis). Allicin and alternative organic compounds in Garlic are loaded with anti-oxidants that have anti-viral and medicinal drug capabilities, and it will support the elimination and interference of Infections.

Herbal Remedies for Meningitis & Micro-Organism Infectious Diseases

Aloe VeraAloe Vera Tannin content can kill bacteria, check Infection and also help to stop bleeding. Its gel has been shown to reduce inflammation, speeds healing and also shows anti-bacterial effects.

AstragalusAstragalus protect and enhance the functioning of distressed organs as it enhances immune function by increasing natural killer cell activity, increasing T-cell activity and enhancing macrophage activity in immune-compromised patients. Astragalus herb stimulates the body’s immune action against pathogens, has a mild Anti-Biotic action and increases the activity of white blood cells.

BabulBabul is a good herbal treatment for curbing and preventing brain related ailments (like meningitis).

Basil – Pure Basil extracts show great effectiveness in the treatment of several Anti-Biotic resistant pathogenic bacteria. These anti-bacterial properties of Basil are linked with its essential volatile oils (including estragole, linalool, cineole, eugenol, sabinene, myrcene, and limonene).

Bay Leaves – Natural aromatic oils (such as eugenol which contain eucalyptol – a potent anti-fungal agent) show excellent anti-fungal and anti-septic properties. Eugenol is shown to destroy Listeria monocytogenes (a bacterium known to cause meningitis in newborn babies).

Canella – It acts as a nerve tonic (free from chemical and does not cause any side effects), therefore useful in treating and preventing many of neurological disorders (such as meningitis, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer Disease).

CatnipCatnip tea infusion is consumed specially throughout Fever. Compounds within Catnip possess anti-bacterial and anti-viral qualities, and may increase the defense mechanisms and a helpful home cure for microbial effects and viral activities.

Cat’s ClawCat’s Claw can reinvigorate the body’s efforts to counter Infection and inflammation, like Echinacea (Echinacea spp.). Its powerful range of Alkaloids especially isopteropodin, can help to stimulate the immune response of the body by increasing the white blood cell count, eliminating bacterial Infections and stimulating anti-oxidant action throughout the body.

Clary Sage – Its Essential Oil has anti-bacterial qualities against all Strains of bacteria (its found to reduce the growth of E. coli significantly and appears to attack bacteria cells in several different ways).

ComfreyComfrey contain rosmarinic acid and Phenolic Acids which show Anti-Inflammatory activity. It contain allantoin (an active constituents) which is a cell-proliferant that stimulates the repair of damaged tissue. It can be used externally to speed up healing of injuries and in avoiding the formation of abnormal scabs. its notable curative properties for injuries is partly due to its content of allantoin, which stimulates cell reproduction and increases the healing of both internal and external injuries.

Ginseng – Ginsenosides (the active ingredients of Ginseng) consumed directly or stewed during a tea directly act on the affected membranes to eliminate the Infection and speed the recovery method of infectious disease.

GoldensealGoldenseal is also effective against many bacteria, protozoa and fungi and also has broad-spectrum Anti-Biotic activity. Goldenseal hydrastine (an isoquinoline Alkaloid) constricts the blood vessels and stimulates the autonomic Nervous System.
